Three finalists were chosen by social media users and then voted on by over 800 adventure travel professionals at the Dena’ina Conference Center in Anchorage, Alaska. This event was sponsored by ExOfficio and AFAR in late September.

The purpose of this “Adventure in Motion” film contest was to recognize the best of the adventure travel agency as well as praise those who exhibited exemplary storytelling skills.

“Change your goal from something you’re trying to sell to a story you’re trying to tell,” said Caroline Pemberton, the evening’s host and Australian producer, in a press release on the Adventure Travel News’ website. “A video without a story is just a video.”

The 126 submissions spanned the globe, from Europe to the Polar Regions to Latin America.

However, the film “Salkantay Inca Trail – the Ultimate Trek to Machu Picchu” submitted by Mountain Lodges of Peru and produced by GLP Films won.

“It was so important for us to be able to identify who could tell our story in such a way that would be engaging [and] keep people surprised, awed and amazed at the beautiful scenery but also to connect with it,” said Enrique Umbert Jr., general manager of Mountain Lodges of Peru, on Adventure Travel News’ website. “GLP Films delivered that for us and more. We are thrilled and so thankful for this award and promise to continue showcasing the best of our beautiful country.”
