Peru cannot seem to get out of the international spotlight this week!
On this occasion, Martin Morales, the chef who is at the forefront of Peru’s culinary revolution in the United Kingdom, has received the Innovator Award by the prestigious GQ Magazine Food & Drink Awards 2017.
This award has been given in recognition of his efforts, creativity, innovation and remarkable work that seeks to open new doors for the Peruvian and South American cuisine in England.
The GQ Food & Drink Awards 2017, were presented by Veuve Clicquot at the brand new Shoreditch venue, the Curtain Hotel on April 25. During the event, winners of 13 awards were announced including Martin.
All of the efforts that he has put into the expansion of Peruvian food has been recognized. Martin Morales has contributed to making Peruvian cuisine one of the most popular in London. He has even organized food tours in London to promote Peruvian food, his closest food tour event is on June 11.
All of his restaurants are very successful in London and are included in the Michelin Guide. Ceviche Soho is on the Top 6 Restaurants list in London, according to the Time Out Magazine. Casita Andina was recently awarded its first AA Rosette Award and Ceviche Old St won the award for Best New Restaurant of the Year 2016.
Martin Morales has also written a cookbook, Ceviche Cocina Peruana that has been translated into 12 different languages and distributed to more than 20 countries. It has even received 3 Gourmand Awards and was named Book of the Year by the Sunday Times. In October of 2017, he will be launching his new book called ANDINA: The Heart of Peruvian Food.
It is worth noting that he has been the first chef from Peru to appear on British TV and the first to feature a Youtube channel in English for Peruvian cuisine, Martin’s Peruvian Kitchen.
