Peru’s expansion into international hotel brands will continue with the announcement of a Holiday Inn Airport. According to Gestion newspaper, the firm Operaciones Turisticas Peruanas is bringing the hotel chain to Lima and at least one other northern city.
Though no date has been set, the first hotel will be built in front of Jorge Chavez International airport in Callao with an estimated budget of $24 million.
“The project was already brought to the attention of the local government in Callao,” Margot Moscoso de Pinasco of Operaciones Turisticas Peruanas told Gestion. “We´ve spoken with the mayor and we believe the city will accept the proposal.”
Moscoso said the new hotel will be marketed to business travelers and a 5-star clientele. Though Holiday Inn does not measure its hotels on the “star” system, Moscoso says the hotel will be on par with other locations in the region
“The hotel will offer 180 bedrooms in a nine-story structure at the Centro Aereo Comercial,” she said.
The city of Trujillo might also see its first Holiday Inn Express built near the
city’s main square.
“In Trujillo we are looking to remodel one of the hotels on the Plaza de Armas that is currently not in operation,” Moscoso said. “That project is still in its infancy and we’ll need at least another three months to finalize the plan.”
According to Gestion, the company that owns the Holiday Inn trademark,
Intercontinental Hotel Group, has 4,600 hotels in 100 countries around the world, and 11 specialized brands.
