In Tumbes protestors blocked part of the Panamericana Norte highway, between the La Cruz and Canoas districts of Punta Sal.

Protestors, made up by fishing organizations, and the general public, set up the roadblocks along three sections of the highway.

According to Peru21, hundreds of passenger vehicles and cargo trucks were left stranded on both sides of the road.

Many of those stranded were tourists, who then had to walk long distances in order to continue their journey on other vehicles.

So far there have been no reports of clashes between protestors and police.

Protestors are demanding changes in fishing regulations, including the implementation of satellite tracking systems to monitor fishing boats, and are hoping for a meeting with Minister of Production Kurt Burneo, to further discuss the issue.

Peru21 reported that Burneo was already in Máncora, Piura, looking for a way to being the talks with demonstrators.
