In June 2010, Dutch citizen Joran van der Sloot was accused of murdering Stephany Flores, in a hotel room in Miraflores.
On Sunday, footage of Van der Sloot describing the events and confessing to the murder was broadcast by local TV program “Cuarto Poder.”
In the video, Van der Sloot said that he told Stephany Flores to go to the hotel he was staying in.
Van der Sloot said that once in room 309 Flores was reviewing his computer, where she saw news that implicated him in the murder of Natalee Holloway.
"I was talking about it with her and she hit me in the head," he told police in the video. He then explained how he proceeded to beat Flores with his elbow, and then asphyxiated her.
According to El Comercio Van der Sloot’s attorney questions the validity of the video testimony.
Van der Sloot has previously claimed he was coerced into signing the confession.
He is currently being held in the Miguel Castro Castro prison, awaiting trial.
