A bus crash has left at least 20 people injured in the province of Anta, in Cusco.
According to Peru21, the bus, which is owned by the Palomino bus firm, crashed in the Compone region, near the Concahcalla creek, as it made its way from Andahuaylas to the city of Cusco.
Five passengers were severely injured, the daily said.
Some passengers claimed the crash occurred because the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
Injured passengers were taken to the Izcuchaca health center, and to a Cusco clinic.
Last year bus crashes claimed dozens of lives across the country.
In November a bus crash left 10 dead in La Libertad. Last October, a bus crash in Chiclayo left 22 dead, and 19 others critically injured.
In March, a mechanical failure caused a bus to drive off the road, in Piura, killing 16 people
