Nobel prize wining author Mario Vargas Llosa has once again expressed his support for President Ollanta Humala and his administration.

During an interview with Terra, Vargas Llosa said he supported Humala because of “fear that Keiko Fujimori would win.”

“The daughter of the dictator, which would have meant the absolution of a dictatorship which was very corrupt and very violent.”

Humala, Vargas Llosa said, has so far “thoroughly fulfilled what he promised during the second [electoral] round.”

“[…] He has respected democratic institutions, freedom of press, freedom of criticism in a flawless manner, and has also respected the market economy.”

The author also highlighted Humala’s commitment to encourage investment, stimulate businesses, and his promise not to nationalize firms.

“Peru continues to grow and the middle classes continue to grow,” Vargas Llosa added.

But what about the desperately poor and needy people Chuck, look at the economy in the years since Fujimori. Every year the poverty rate of Peru had gone down. Today, Peru is well on its way to having one of the lowest poverty rates in South America as long as we dont have some form of political or economic disater. We must remember that due to the demographics of Peru, namely the isolation that many Peruvians live with in the mountains and the jungle, that we will always have some form of poverty because these areas would be almost imposible for any world government to support or improve. Look at the facts and figures, evaluate the progress and you will see that Peru and its people are on an upwards swing that year to year helps to lower poverty and create a new expansive working class and an increased middle class. If there are no dramatic changes, the news is all good for the future as Peru will continue to grow and prosper, as will its economy and therefore its people.

WHAT A NUTCASE!!!! THE SITUATION FOR THE LOWER CLASS IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF LIMA IS NOT IMPROVING, LET ALONE FOR THOSE "ISOLATED IN THE SIERRA AND SELVA". THE UPWARD SWING YOU TALK ABOUT HAS ONLY BEEN A FACTOR FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS SO FAR, AS THIS ARTICLE SAYS. I GOT OUT OF LA LA LAND (MIRAFLORES) AND LIVE WITH MY FAMILY (BY CHOICE, NOT NECCESSITY) IN PACHACAMAC AND LIVE DAILY AMONG THESE FINE PEOPLE, AND BELIEVE ME, THEY ARE NOT SEEING ANY OF THESE CHANGES YOU SPEAK OF. SOME FORM OF POVERTY MY ARSE, QUIT TALKING THROUGH YOURS...

Maybe these people just need to pull themselves up by their boot straps right Big Bear.? Hard to do when you don't have any boots. When people like Big Bear are doing OK, and I know you are, it's easy to write off those who aren't doing OK and make up BS reasons as to why they aren't.

Vargas Llosa is a bitter sore looser to having lost to Fujimori and needs to come and actually live here in Peru, not Spain, to see how this country really is after Humala.
