Former President Alan Garcia has responded to criticism made by his predecessor Alejandro Toledo, who argued that Garcia’s government had been “absolutely inactive” after the 2007 earthquake in Ica.
"[Toledo] is not very generous when he judges me, I do not have an opinion about it, it is his right," Garcia was quoted as saying by El Comercio.
Earlier in the week ex- President Toledo said he had been “very disappointed” with the slow progress made in reconstructing the areas that had been affected by the earthquake.
“The government of President Garcia was absolutely inactive, and lacked compassion for poor people,” Toledo said.
On Friday Garcia said his administration had spent over 3 billion soles in roads, sewage work, and reconstruction of power grids.
The former president said his government had also supported the construction of three hospitals, as well as some of "the most beautiful schools in Peru."
"To say there was nothing done is very funny, there has already been a year of [the Humala] government, and now those in Pisco and Ica are saying there was nothing done," Garcia said.

garcia is clown but he don't realize it. Regarding schools he should know that most of it has been constructed with money NGOs have spent e.g. from Germany. And regfarding the Streets and Hospitals, OK, first off all the people need a place where they can life - means houses .... Garcia is living in his fantasy-world as well as Ollanta and others .....
