Peru’s national soccer team is scheduled to face Costa Rica on Wednesday, during an international friendly match in San Jose.
The match will take place at 5:00pm Peruvian time, at the National Stadium in San Jose, which has a capacity for 35,000 spectators, El Comercio reported.
Peru will play the match without some of its key players: Jefferson Farfán, and Claudio Pizarro, after Farfán sustained an injury, and Pizarro was not released from his obligations at Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Costa Rica, led by Colombian coach Jorge Luis Pinto, is expected to play the match with all of its key players.
However, Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero and midfielder Juan Manuel Vargas were confirmed to play during the match.
Guerrero said Costa Rica “is a team which has played a high level in recent years,” and said he was expecting a “challenging opponent.”
Peru will play against Venezuela on September 7 and Argentina on September 11, as part of qualifying matches for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
