Last week, PromPerú released a video in which personalities from the jungle region of Loreto, Peru visited their counterparts in Loreto, Italy. The follow-up to the orginal Peru, Nebraska video was a smash hit, garnering more than 466,000 views over the weekend.
According to El Comercio, that makes "Loreto, Italia" the number-one travel video around the world and the number-one video in any category in Peru this weekend.
Loreto Regional President Yvan Vasquez told El Comercio that tourism to the region could grow up to 50% due to the new spot.

FUN AND WITTY!!! WILL GET LOTS OF HITS FROM PERUVIANS BUT I AM NOT SO SURE THAT IT DOESN'T DO MORE FOR THE TOURISM OF LORETO, ITALY THAN IT WOULD FOR PERU. I WISH IT WOULD HAVE INCORPERATED MORE OF LORETO, PERU...

As Peruvian living abroad I love the video. And I am sure that it will be loved by the hordes of Peruvians living outside Peru. But I feel it is a great video for just that: for nostalgic Peruvians. I don't think, however, that it would attract more interest from the foreigners watching it. Yes, it is witty and funny but the subtle jokes are understandable only by Peruvians. My two cents: the producers shouls have concentrated on the Peru brand rather than go search for something else (like Loreto). World people still need to know and learn about Peru before being exposed to Loreto, Trujillo, Arequipa, etc. My friends saw the video and they didn't get it.

I agree with the comments before. The video is great but without living in Peru I would not really get it. I think Peruvian still need to listen and understand what the world think of them. Having lived here for over 3 years I do not see that. Only positive comments are welcomed but anything that may not recognise what Peruvians like goes quite bad.

I think most fairly educated people around the world....including Loreto.,Italy.....would understand that this is one part of Peru that is being promoted. Peru has many facets...the Amazon region needs to be highlighted. Most tourists head straight for Cuzco and Machu Pichu and only a few get to Iquitos., Loreto. The people who "don't get it" don't travel anyway. I'm Peruvian but I watched this video from the perspective of a tourist....and I got it. It made me want to go to this exotic corner of Peru and see the Boras in their own setting. The Amazon has been officially declared one of the "Natural Wonders of the World". So....good job PromPeru!
