About 10 thousand foreign visitors are expected to attend this year’s Mistura food festival, according to Bernardo Roca Rey, president of the Peruvian Society of Gastronomy.
"We also expect a significant presence from foreign culinary students, who will be the best promoters of Peruvian food, because they will tell people in their country what is happening in Peru, and we become the benchmark," Roca was quoted as saying in El Comercio.
This year’s Mistura food festival will take place from September 7 to the 16, at the Campo de Marte, in Lima. Organizers said they expect the festival will receive around 600 thousand visitors.
Details and food stands will be announced on June 5, El Comercio said.
"We will show how Mistura 2012 will be, the show’s plans, the architecture, colors, location, and the attractions we have thought for this edition, which in this case are the Andean grains," Roca said.
Last year more than 360 thousand people visited the fourth annual Mistura festival.
