On Friday, Milton Von Hesse, executive director of ProInversion, said work at Cusco’s Chinchero international airport would begin in 2013.
"Right now officials at Proinversión are in the process of formalizing the land on which the airport in Cusco will be built. If all goes well, my bet is that they project could be starting next year,” he said according to Peru21.
Von Hesse said the government was committed to carrying out this project, and said ProInversion was making adjustments to ensure there were adequate economic, investment, and technical levels.
The Chinchero project, he said, is part of a 2012-2013-investment portfolio, which ProInversion will publish next week.
Last month Cusco transportation authorities announced they were considering Anta, as an alternative location for the construction of Cusco’s new airport.
Lucio Quisiyupanqui, a lawyer working with Cusco’s regional transport investment agency, said the Chinchero site was being weighed down by the demands of local communities
