Peruvian authorities are investigating an alleged Chilean spy who was arrested in Piura on Monday.

According to Peru21, Maximiliano Serain Gutierrez, was arrested on January 30, outside El Pato air force base, in the city of Talara.

Officials from the Talara police department said Gutierrez had been carrying a camera and several maps of the area.

The news site said the alleged spy has been brought to Department of State Security in Sullana, where he will be questioned.
