On Tuesday former President Alan Garcia suggested there was a chance he would run in the next presidential elections in 2016.
"I do not close any possibility in my life,” Garcia said after visiting the Lima Metro, the city’s train, a project he started during his first term (1985 -1990) and finished during his second (2006 – 2011).
"The fate of a person is not be president forever. I am a politician, but I do not to hold office to do politics,” he said.
When pressed by reporters about a third term, Garcia said he felt strong enough to carry it out.
“Do I look weak, frail, and completely out of myself and out of ideas?”
Garcia agreed that a third presidential term would be easier, given his experience.
"It's easier the more experience one has, with that I have said everything," he said, according to El Comercio.
