On Tuesday former President Alan Garcia took a ride on the Lima Metro, the train that he began during his first government, and finished in his second term.
Garcia said that although there were some things to be improved, the service was very effective and punctual.
"There are some things to improve […] the position of some windows could be changed to allow for more air flow into the cars,” he said, according to El Comercio.
“[The train] is European, it arrives at the exact minute it was announced.”
Garcia said a second line for the metro was necessary, and spoke of a new line that could go from Ate to Callao.
“[It] should be done with private funds. Public funds should not used because this work pays for itself," he said.
Garcia said he hoped the Lima Metro would unite metropolitan Lima with San Juan de Lurigancho, and added that his dream was for the Lima Metro to eventually reach Pachacamac.
