Attorney General José Antonio Peláez announced an investigation into the alleged forged signatures presented by Movadef is underway.

Movadef (The Movement for Amnesty and Fundamental Rights) is a political organization with ties to the Shining Path, which has filed for recognition as a formal political party.

"A competent attorney will open an investigation on this subject, because we could be looking at a different type of crime here,” he said on Canal N.

Peláez said he considered Movadef to be a terrorist organization with strong ties to the Shining Path.

"I think Movadef is a terrorist group and must be rejected," he said.

Peláez also dismissed the Inter-American Commission of Human Right’s decision to bring Chavin De Huantar commandos to trial, saying the issue had already been reviewed by Peru’s military courts.

"This operation was flawless, I think that since the commandos were reviewed by a military court, and acquitted, the matter should not be reviewed again,” he said, according to Peru21.
