Harvard University and its Peruvian alumni associations paid tribute to alumnus Alberto Benavides de la Quintana on Monday. Benavides was awarded the Harvard University Lifetime Achievement Award, which is given annually to one former Harvard student. It is the highest honor which can be bestowed upon an alumnus by the university. Benavides is the founder of the Buenaventura Mining Company, now Peru’s largest, and the first Peruvian company to receive a full listing on the New York Stock Exchange. Benavides received a Masters in Geology from Harvard, and later studied in the university's Advanced Management Program.
