Happy Belated Friends Day, also called Valentine’s Day among lovers.
Yes, Tuesday, February 14, was and always will be Valentine’s Day, where love and care is celebrated and among friends and loved ones.
So who was Saint Valentine?
When it comes to Saint Valentine the details are sketchy. Some say he was a priest from Rome who lived in the third century AD.
The story goes that Emperor Claudius II had banned marriages, believing married men made bad soldiers.
Saint Valentine is thought to have felt this was an unfair notion and arranged marriages in secret.
When Claudius found out, Valentine was thrown in jail and given a death sentence.
In prison, he fell in love with the jailer’s daughter and, when he was taken to be killed on February 14, he sent her a love letter signed “from your Valentine.”
Is this one of your top Peruvian brands? (Photo: El Comercio)
Earlier this week, Kantar Millward Brown published their list of what they believe to be Peru’s preferred national brands. I had guessed most of them, including Inca Cola, but I was still surprised to see some of my least favorite brands on that Top 20 list.
What favorite brands of yours are missing on this list?
Last Sunday evening, the music industry celebrated the 59th Grammy Awards, where all the stars meet to celebrate some of the best music released in 2016. There was, as always, many great songs. My favorite was without any doubt is “Can’t Stop this Feeling” by Justin Timberlake. As well, Bruno Mars brought me to the dance floor with “24K Magic” and Adele’s “Hello” made me think of the past, and not only of Lionel Richie, who also had a huge hit with his own version of “Hello” back in 1983.
My favorite performance of the evening was Metallica featuring Lady Gaga, despite the fact that the mic failed James Hetfield. This really pissed him off, which you can see as he exits the stage:
It was really rare to see Lady Gaga do Metallica and especially after having watched her Superbowl 2017 halftime performance. I’ve see her on various occasions, last in 2015 with Tony Bennett in the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. This woman has a lot of talent. How did it happen that she sang together with the boys from Metallica? Lars Ulrich (from Denmark) gives you the answer in this ABC interview.
Valentine’s hit of the week (in Spanish):
- Mi amor, qué haremos de especial mañana 14 de febrero?
- No te lo quería decir pero… te gusta Paris?
- Y Barcelona?
- Perfecto! Mañana, 16:45 PSG vs Barcelona en ESPN por la Champions
Have a great weekend!
