Last Saturday’s Expat Pisco Sour Challenge was a huge success. Participants from Russia, Belgium, Holland, Germany, England, Scotland and the US competed for the 2017 champion title.

England, the USA and Scotland were all represented among the top three best Pisco Sour makers, but in the end Scotland’s Owen Miller took the title and beat last year’s winner from England.

About 180 guests watched the show, which later led to a party of its own with more cold Pisco Sours…Check out more event photos here.

Presidential heads are about to start rolling down the Odebrecht sewer system. Alejandro Toledo is the first president to hit the front pages of Peruvian newspapers, but I have a feeling he’ll soon be joined by both Alan Garcia and Ollanta Humala, who are also being investigated.

It is not the first time the public has accused the two ex presidents, but in particular Alan Garcia has a great talent to avoid getting convicted, despite Odebrecht apparently paid for his Christ statue looking over the bay of Lima from Chorillos. A Danish newspaper last week published an article about how this statue, according to the people of Lima, now has become a symbol of corruption and that it should be taken down.

Unfortunately we live in a country where corruption is daily business, but I do believe that with time and with help from whistle blowers we will convict those who rob this amazing country from its values and opportunities.

According to a report, of which I don’t remember the source right now, Peru could be of the level of Switzerland, if greedy people hadn’t corrupted Peru over the years.

Sister Monica and Siervas (Screen capture: Youtube)

Sister Monica and Siervas, a Lima-based band performed last year for more than 250,000 people in Mexico when invited by Pope Francis. Their latest video “Confia en dios” (Trust in God) is now a hit with more than 500,000 views. Enjoy their video here.

It’s time for another TED-talk and this week I chose Peter Diamandis, author of “Abundance – The Future is better than you think” and co-founder of Singularity University, where students learn to create solutions that will change the life of one billion people or more.

I just finished the book and learned so many new things, which tells me that the world we live in is much better than we think. I really recommend it!

Check out this video and don’t be afraid to leave a message below about what you think of today’s world.
