One morning, when Ricardo was doing the weekly inspection of his warehouse, he realized that the roof was damp. When he went up to check the roof, he came across a puddle of water that covered almost the entire surface. There was a problem in the water tank. Ricardo immediately called his trusted plumber but unfortunately he was out of Lima visiting his family in the north. Getting a tradesman who does a good job is a big challenge, it takes a lot of time and you never know what you can find.

Ricardo without much hope made an internet search and ran into a page called Dconfianza. He posted the job he needed and, with some reservations, included his contact details. Within ten minutes he began receiving calls. Of the three indicative proposals Ricardo was able to reach an agreement with one of the tradesmen who was able to came the same day and repair the water tank. Since then Ricardo has posted more than 10 jobs in Dconfianza for both his business and his home.

Dconfianza is an online platform that was launched earlier this year by a couple of Norwegians, Bjornar Arnesen and Brigt Gilje, together with local entrepreneur, Jorge Melgar. As any other expats, they had some challenges adjusting to the local culture but when it came to finding a tradesman it was a total nightmare. So eventually they started Dconfianza with the aim of making people’s life a little bit easier. The idea of the web page is simple: if you need a provider you can either search the phone directory or, the best option, post a job and up to three tradesmen will contact you and give an offer.

Behind the platform, there is a lot of work going on. Every time a job is posted the team chooses the most suitable providers depending on the needs of the user. Each one of these tradesmen has been previously checked and interviewed by Dconfianza. Moreover, because the quality is one of the main drivers of the company, they periodically do workshops aimed at enhancing the service of the providers within the platform. The team has several ideas to improve the quality of the service that they hope to implement in the future.

As of today, the platform has around 180 providers and nearing 1,000 posted jobs. Dconfianza is currently working on a user app that should be ready early 2017.
